Positives:
- Majority of staff feel their workload is manageable, and most managers provide feedback, mentoring, and training.
- Some employees agree change is handled reasonably well, with 5/8 responses positive.

Negatives:
- Only half feel management behaves consistently with company values (3 agree, 3 neutral, 2 disagree).
- A few respondents feel incidents and decisions are not always managed well, with mixed confidence in leadership.

Leadership Actions:
• Delegate decisions and follow through on team input.
• Frame oversight as support, not control – ask 'What do you need to succeed?'.
• Be transparent about decision-making and explain the 'why'.
• Lead with honesty and integrity to build empowerment.

Negatives:

- Celebrating achievements is inconsistent — most felt goals/milestones are not celebrated enough.

Leadership Actions:
• Create a visible succession pathway - Apprentice → Tradesperson → Leading Hand → Supervisor → Manager.

•Include development goals in reviews and promote learning opportunities (S1–3, frontline management, OEM training, CQU Asset Management courses, short course, Excell , word etc…).

•Celebrate achievements and qualifications openly.

Leadership Actions:
• Highlight in toolbox talks - policies and procedures and or team meetings.
• Show visible action through reviews or brainstorm on procedure feedback to build trust.
• Run reviews / checks / task observations to monitor improvement in procedures

Positives:
- Quality of work is generally valued, and there’s recognition of staff contribution.
- Most staff report incidents are at least somewhat managed, though opinions vary.


Negatives:
- Safety is not seen as a strong company value — only 3/8 strongly agreed, with others neutral or disagreeing.
- Incident management results were split (3 agreed, 3 disagreed, 2 neutral).


Leadership Actions:
• Model safe behaviours and link safety to productivity.
• Empower staff to stop unsafe work and communicate outcomes.
• Reinforce that safety is a shared value, not a compliance checkbox.

Overall Summary

The biggest strengths are workload balance, mentoring, and feedback culture.

 

The main challenges are trust/empowerment, safety culture, and career development.

 

We can drive cultural improvement by empowering teams, reinforcing safety, and celebrating progress. Consistency between intent and action will strengthen trust and long-term engagement.
